The 2018 Villemaurine has a satisfying bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, smoke and light truffle aromas, more reserved than its peers but quite cerebral by comparison. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. The oak is a little prominent at the moment, but there is obviously plenty of fruit with real tension and focus on the finish. Superb!" - Drink: 2023-2042

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Villemaurine rolls sensuously out of the glass with notes of plum preserves, blueberry pie and Black Forest cake with touches of underbrush, spice cake, star anise and unsmoked cigars plus a hint of potpourri. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with rich, seductive fruit, framed by plush tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and layered. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aging is expected to be for 14 months in oak barriques, 75% new.
